Mystery Shopping.

By Mae Jallits

I would definitely rate Mystery Shopping as a money maker for us gals. You will not make a ton of money but you sure can make some extra spending cash. I was able to make enough to put in my pool and what a better way to do it but than to shop!

In recent months I have seen a decline in this market because of the cut backs with the economy. Seems businesses would prefer to have the customer do a survey rather than spending the extra on providing a service to their client in this fashion but girls there is still money to be made out there!Don’t expect to get paid quickly, most companies take a full month to get you in their system, up and running and shops started. Once your through the application, approval process and able to sign up for shops the process is fairly painless and the cash will start flowing.

First thing to do is get certified. This does help you get shops. You will need to take a series of test to become either a silver or gold mystery shopper. Many companies like that you took the time and spent the money to make sure you knew your business.

MSPA North America is your resource for information and certification. There is a cost associated with certifications but it should be only a one time fee. Be warned however, the certification is for only one e-mail address so if you change your e-mail address for any reason you will need to reapply.

Here are a few companies I have found to be reputable with a number of clients and shops to get you up and shopping right away Greet America, Market Force and Sassie.
TIP: If you don’t follow directions you won’t be paid for your shop. When picking the shops remember time is money, pick shops wisely. Pick based on location and distance from home. Free food does not pay the bills and remember you will have to pay the bill up front and then be reimbursed. I suggest you start with shops which pay you for your time. Best of luck.
